Reader-support terms

Payments are voluntary support for journalism and public-interest content already provided by Ewing Journal. They do not purchase editorial influence, favorable coverage, ownership, membership, or a guaranteed product or service. Ewing Journal retains full editorial independence.

The current checkout is a one-time payment in U.S. dollars. The supporter chooses an amount from $5 to $1,000; $10 is suggested. Stripe's hosted confirmation page confirms a completed payment; an email receipt is sent only if that option is enabled. Neither is a charitable tax receipt or a representation of tax deductibility. Do not submit payment if the amount, currency, or merchant identity is not what you intended.

Refunds

If a payment was made by mistake, email editor@ewingjournal.org within 14 calendar days with the date and amount. Approved refunds are returned only to the original payment method. Bank and card processing times are controlled by Stripe and the financial institution.

The current reader-support checkout is one-time and does not create a recurring subscription.

Privacy

Ewing Journal receives limited transaction information you provide through checkout, such as your email address, support amount and transaction reference. Stripe processes payment credentials. If you separately subscribe to the newsletter, Buttondown processes that subscription. Those services are governed by their own privacy and security terms.

The Journal uses reader information to process and document support, send receipts or requested communications, prevent fraud, provide support, maintain records and meet legal obligations. Ewing Journal does not sell personal information. Access is limited to people and service providers who need it for those purposes.

You may request access, correction or deletion of information held directly by Ewing Journal by emailing the editor. Some records may be retained when required for accounting, fraud prevention, disputes or law.

Corrections and updates

Ewing Journal reviews possible factual errors against its reporting notes and available source records. Material factual errors are corrected promptly and accompanied by a dated note explaining what changed. Clarifications and material updates are labeled so they are not mistaken for corrections.

Website terms

Ewing Journal reporting is provided for general information and is not legal, medical, tax, or investment advice. Sources and external links are identified where practical; external publishers control their own sites. Copyrighted text, design, audio, video, data presentation and original photography may not be republished without permission except as allowed by law.

Possible factual errors may be reported through the Resource Center or by email. Ewing Journal may update these terms as its services change; the effective date above identifies the current version.
